About Me

In writing the "About Me" portion of this blog I thought about the purpose of the blog - namely, preventing the growth of Socialism & stopping the Death Of Democracy in the American Republic & returning her to the "liberty to abundance" stage of our history. One word descriptions of people's philosophies or purposes are quite often inadequate. I feel that I am "liberal" meaning that I am broad minded, independent, generous, hospitable, & magnanimous. Under these terms "liberal" is a perfectly good word that has been corrupted over the years to mean the person is a left-winger or as Mark Levin more accurately wrote in his book "Liberty & Tyranny" a "statist" - someone looking for government or state control of society. I am certainly not that & have dedicated the blog to fighting this. I believe that I find what I am when I consider whether or not I am a "conservative" & specifically when I ask what is it that I am trying to conserve? It is the libertarian principles that America was founded upon & originally followed. That is the Return To Excellence that this blog is named for & is all about.

WSJ Letter Published - Hillary's Plan To Weaken The First Amendment

Below is my letter that was published today in the WSJ responding to Hillary Clinton's plans to change the First Amendment so that politicians, such as herself, will be further empowered to "regulate the quantity, content, & timing of political speech" in the words of George Will's key note address @ the inaugural Disinvitation Dinner last month.  This idea of Mrs. Clinton's was accepted without a whimper from the press, including the liberal press, which is at first thought surprising but not so much so when you think about it.

The second thought that Mrs. Clinton's plan provokes is that the liberal media is not satisfied with the current arrangement in which there are alternative forms of information.

But when you think about it, & it doesn't have to be too hard, the position described by Mr. Will is what is actually happening in America already.

Dear Editor,

The First Amendment's guarantee of freedom of the press is the lifeblood of an unbiased media. The liberal media realize that total weakening of the First Amendment will not change their positions of support for Democrat politicians in any way, but will silence dissenting conservative voices.

  2. Doug - your letter was on point and very effective. I responded on line to WSJ also.

Your observation regarding the liberal media disdain for freedom of speech is correct, as the Left is close to fully achieving many of its long term goals (ex - an economy very heavily controlled by the Gov). Contrast this to more conservative times when the Left was champions of free speech in order to get their agenda in full focus. So now the Left is actively promoting to silence conservatives. They must be called out on this and articulate conservatives must drive this point ASAP.

Great job and please keep the letters coming.
