From what I see, it is a system of education that has failed. Let me make it clear, It is not the children that have failed --it is the system. Teaching has drastically changed since the Federal Government took charge of it. It mandated one size fits all education forgetting, or rather, ignoring that no two people are alike and that includes children. Some learn by seeing, some by hearing and some by osmosis. I know from my own experience that my capacity to learn is through the written word. I see, I read, I absorb and it stays in my mind to be recalled when needed. On the other hand anything on audio almost never registers and I can't remember it. Schools must take individual talents and strengths into account when teaching. This can only happen if a school and its teachers have the freedom to do their jobs properly, working together with parents and local boards. Government must get out of the classrooms if our kids are to succeed.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
