I was 17 years old when that picture was on the front page of every newspaper and we all gave thanks and a great sigh of relief that it was finally over. A number of houses on the block where I lived had gold stars hanging in the windows for the young sons that never came home. The 19 year old son of the middle aged couple that owned the house in which my parents rented half the upper floor was one of those. While we were happy that the war was over there was sadness for the loss of so many that gave their lives.

The sadder part is that we all believed that the formation of the United Nations would prevent any future wars. Boy, were we wrong. In over 60 years, they have not prevented or stopped a single war or conflict. It is a useless group and should be done away with.
STnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3776665703590564248.post-42724387827133118562012-08-14T22:42:59.528-04:002012-08-14T22:42:59.528-04:00Thanks for sharing the video Doug.....I hope all e...Thanks for sharing the video Doug.....I hope all enjoy it as much as I did!BDnoreply@blogger.com
