George Bernard Shaw was a horrible progressi...Doug,
George Bernard Shaw was a horrible progressive who believed in eugenics. An altogether nasty man and a not so good playwrite (despite what your high school English teacher told you!) Wouldn't go around quoting him if I were you!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3776665703590564248.post-75500059567202840642011-02-23T19:03:48.925-05:002011-02-23T19:03:48.925-05:00you mentioned subscriber who quoted George Bernard...you mentioned subscriber who quoted George Bernard Shaw - "A govt. that robs Peter to pay Paul, will always have the support of Paul." How true.

Give a person anything that they do not have to pay much for - and you have their vote, vs. one who has to pay full fare.

Who do you think would win in a general election - one who pays small amount
for taxes or one who pays their full share of taxes. This is a no-brainer.

That is why Democrats win many elections - give something for nothing.

Once in a while, when things get really bad, like the economy, it wakes people up, and they throw out existing party members, and vote for opposite party (in this case, the Repub.)

Now the problem arises, if Repub. cause too much pain, (cutting expenses to arrive at balance budget, etc) then they will lose following election - as all the "goodies" have been taken away.

This is how one person sees it.

True, "FairTax" can help , but population has to be educated about it - via advertising, "FairTax" speakers, speak at well known talk programs with large amount of people watching the program. That is only way to get people educated about it - you have to reach the general population of millions, not thousands.

Also very large donations will help.

Years ago Forbes Magazine, supported the flat tax:, and they spent millions on it -result it did not go any where - reason not enough "large donations " from various sources to help push it.

If Carol, would contribute - say, $2,000,000 then we have a fighting chance.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
