Yes – BO goal is single payer and total control of health care with ZERO private insurance companies. The individual mandate will in time cause this. Laws of Economics will ensure this. Re: SS – yes the small # of young supporting this now vs time ofSS initiation, and much longer life time expectancies – will soon have US follow demise of European style social welfare (which works until people paying for this have no more money to pay such huge benefits). Many on the Left are oblivious to this. However the elite Left (lead by BO, MO, Valerie Jarrett, Samantha Powers) understand the Laws of Economics and know they are tanking the economy. But they are disciples of Saul Alinksy and yearn for a new world order where Big World Government controls every economic activity.

Keep on exposing the truth and stating our problems succinctly Doug and Historian. Only then can the US start seriously focusing on alternatives to alter this dangerous course we are on – and get back on the road to return to excellence.

Economics501
Economics501http://economics501.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3776665703590564248.post-74750435872499193022013-07-26T23:32:03.714-04:002013-07-26T23:32:03.714-04:00You mean well, but sooner or later some sort of he...You mean well, but sooner or later some sort of healthcare benefit program will be enacted, with people with good jobs paying a good chunk of the cost. Uncle Sam will pay most of the cost for unemployed people etc.

If gov't needs money, there is always the "printing press."

In a matter of time, U.S. will be having same problem that Europe has; not enough money coming in to pay government pensions, pensions in private sector etc. Europe has very high unemployment especially with younger workers.
Do not be surprised to see some nations having uprisings started by young unemployed citizens of those countries.

People might say Europe is finding their way out of trouble - do not believe it.

Doug, young people here in U.S. who have jobs will see each year more and more of their paychecks going to pay for all of these government projects and there will come a time they will say - enough is enough.

When social security started in 1930s, people were expected to live only 2-4 years in retirement before they died. Social Security had enough money to pay off.

Now, people who retire can live another 25 plus years and Social Security does not have the cash to pay out. They can raise retirement age but that is not enough.

In fact I recently read a report more and more firms are discontinuing pension programs for new employees. It is getting too expensive for them to do it.

Enough for now - have a good weekend.The Historiannoreply@blogger.com
