Doug - great chronology. It depicts a steadily growing mindset of Americans abdicating personal responsibility and embracing entitlements. Just as one event (Pearl Harbor attack) led to chain of events to current entitlement dependency mindset, I truly hope for another new event that will lead to a rapid reversal of this mindset. This event may occur very soon (ex months): the collapse of European style entitlements due to Euro Zone bankruptcies and creditor imposition of austerity. When this happens let's hope Americans will view that as a harbinger of what lies ahead for the U.S.
