About Me

In writing the "About Me" portion of this blog I thought about the purpose of the blog - namely, preventing the growth of Socialism & stopping the Death Of Democracy in the American Republic & returning her to the "liberty to abundance" stage of our history. One word descriptions of people's philosophies or purposes are quite often inadequate. I feel that I am "liberal" meaning that I am broad minded, independent, generous, hospitable, & magnanimous. Under these terms "liberal" is a perfectly good word that has been corrupted over the years to mean the person is a left-winger or as Mark Levin more accurately wrote in his book "Liberty & Tyranny" a "statist" - someone looking for government or state control of society. I am certainly not that & have dedicated the blog to fighting this. I believe that I find what I am when I consider whether or not I am a "conservative" & specifically when I ask what is it that I am trying to conserve? It is the libertarian principles that America was founded upon & originally followed. That is the Return To Excellence that this blog is named for & is all about.

The Immigration Reform Stakes

"This bill is clearly a compromise, & no one will get everything they wanted, including me." – BO speaking about the comprehensive immigration reform bill the Senate is expected to vote on this week

With regard to BO's above statement I can only say "oh yes you will."

Hispanics to the tune of 81% are interested in government benefits & are not @ all interested in American citizenship – they are here for money.  See RTE posting Immediate Solutions To America's Problems Do Not Favor Republicans dated April 12 for details.

Republicans, led by Marco Rubio, are falling all over themselves pretending to have a soft tone toward Hispanics while really presenting a bill they hope is tough enough that they do not lose any of their base on the immigration reform issue.  An impossible position other than lip service (pun intended) on the former if they really mean the latter.

Rubio explains that the comprehensive immigration reform bill that will shortly come before the Senate will provide provisional legal status quickly for Hispanics but that illegal immigrants will receive "no federal benefits, no food stamps, no welfare, & no ObamaCare" & that there will be background checks, fines, & a ten year process before they could apply for legal status.  Rubio went on to stress on national television that "it will actually be cheaper if they went back home, waited ten years, & applied for a green card."  Now that statement is so ludicrous that it begs the question – why would anyone wanting to become a citizen do it the Senate plan way?  Rubio's words are so far in front of his thinking that he doesn't realize what he is saying.

The aforementioned RTE posting documented that immigrants with permanent legal status who are eligible to apply for citizenship currently have to pay a $680 application fee & pass an oral exam in English covering American history & government & that the great majority of them are just not interested.

Instead of each party playing political games trying to outdo the other it would be far better for the country if our elected representatives were to determine whether or not we want these people in America – are we better off with them here?  The current charade takes for granted they are staying meaning it is just a matter of how much the Republicans lose.  Republicans are trying to put a good face on this while Democrats are just giddy thinking of the Republicans committing political suicide because they know allowing eleven million illegal immigrants into any type of path to be able to vote secures their objective until the entire economy collapses one way or the other.

Republicans will never win a bidding war game to secure the Hispanic vote that Democrats specialize in – so why humiliate themselves with the above Rubio approach that is doomed to failure one way or the other, sooner or later.

Click here to hear Congressman Steve King explain to Bill O'Reilly, to Hispanics, & really everyone, that America under free enterprise is a far superior way to lasting prosperity than the unsustainable way of life that is being promised to them by BO.   Hispanics are quite capable of seeing the declining standard of living that the future holds for them under BO if it is pointed out to them consistently & sincerely by people like Congressman King who believe it themselves.  The American dream is the most optimistic gratifying way of life ever realized on the face of the earth & people who really want to experience it will respond when they understand the stakes.
