Click & go to the 6:50 minute mark for Liz Wheeler's clear, concise, compelling explanation of why socialist government run single payer universal healthcare systems fail. Liz starts by expounding on what Bastiat called legal plunder – i.e., the lawgiver takes from some persons that which belongs to them, to give to others what does not belong to them - where the rich are required, through taxes, to pay for everyone's healthcare, then shows how this necessarily expands to include taxing the middle class, which proves financially unsustainable, & therefore winds up with rationing.

Yes - heavy taxes to both upper and middle classes do lead to health care rationing and an unsustainable financial scenario. In addition, it places the economy at severe risk of negative or weak GDP growth which automatically decreases Treasury revenues, and can increase our astounding $20 trillion debt exponentially.
ReplyDeleteOur political leaders lake common economic sense, tailor policies that risk bankrupting or economy in order to secure votes, or are hell bent capitalism hating - ideological Marxists or all three. Meanwhile we have an increasing Gov dependency class that has lost much of its drive to develop individual God given talents that in the aggregate can catapult the economy substantially and benefit all.
Welfare and health insurance must be reset so that only the truly needy require them, else we all risk economic catastrophes. High time more and more free market successful capitalists champion these points, with courage, but they must carefully pick their opportunities as the Left has been espousing Maoist tactics such as attacking free speech at times with physical force.
Very good article, have heard this in a more elementary way during Halloween when the youngster brings the candy they worked for and another youngster didn’t go out and work for anything - they took one kids candy from his pile and gave it to the kid that stayed home. The kid said that’s not fair! He never left the house! Now that’s socialism - quit winning. Also another example was school grades one did no home work while others did, instead of an A for the work they shared the scores and they all got a B regardless of how much work they did at the end of the year everyone failed because everyone stopped doing the work.
