Shortly after the Tax Cuts & Jobs Act of 2017 was signed into law on December 22 Ami Horowitz took to the streets of the East Village of Manhattan to find out what the people on the street thought of the bill.
Horowitz first presented the bill as a product of the Trump administration – to a negative reaction. Then he presented various points from the bill to the same people who previously had a negative reaction but told these interviewees that the ideas were those of Bernie Sanders – to a positive reaction.
In another glaring example of some people not having any idea what politicians tell them click here to hear Hillary Clinton tell a crowd @ a 2016 campaign stop that her tax plan is to raise taxes on the middle class. The crowd is so giddy that they applaud wildly – including Warren Buffet, who is in the audience, & in truth wants to raise taxes on everyone except himself.
It is not good for the future of America to have so many people, as indicated in the videos above, who are ignorant of the policies proposed or being enacted into law, & who can not make the least bit of effort to understand for themselves what is happening to them & the rest of the country, having such a profound influence on our future.
It is true, control the media and you control the people. Also people would rather believe a lie than the truth.

ReplyDeleteThose interviewed may be representative subset of many who vote for candidates with policies that hurt them while ignoring candidates with policies that may actually benefit them. Why? Because the Elite Left is very skilled with propaganda. Those who vote for the Left essentially are comprised of 2 classes: (1) tiny - approx 10% or less who are well schooled in Marxism and Socialism and are very passionate about their beliefs; (2) - remaining Left voters basically ignorant of significant especially economics issues that are easily swayed by the propaganda. Ex: Tax bill is only for rich, will only exacerbate our debt, kill jobs, lead to Armageddon, etc. Nevertheless Doug - you do a great service in pointing out how pathetically uninformed many voters are to the point where so many vote for policies that retard their prospects for prosperity. This should encourage many of your readers to increase their initiatives in calmly championing our Constitution and benefits of Capitalism with propaganda swayed friends, family, neighbors. Little by little this impacts the US in positive way.
Many thanks for this post.
I agree! Today told our Cafeteria ladies that California is a Sanctuary state. They didn’t know it nor really what that means. NJ is in the same boat.
ReplyDeleteNot sure what your point is? Most of Congress didn’t know what was in that bill since it was crafted behind closed doors without hearing, etc. Of course people are predisposed to their party’s rhetoric. Look at how Republicans want to chase Rabbits when they have a Bear in the woods.
ReplyDeleteFunny things you focus on, especially considering what we woke up to this morning. Trump is a crook, Congress is complicit and 2018 is not going to be a good year for anybody. Let’s hope we can avoid yet another War.
Hope you are enjoying Hilton Head because you cannot be enjoying the politics, none of us are.
Ps Did you see this article (link below) in the not so much “failing” NYT?

The point of the post is found in the last paragraph - "It is not good for the future of America to have so many people, as indicated in the videos above, who are ignorant of the policies proposed or being enacted into law, & who can not make the least bit of effort to understand for themselves what is happening to them & the rest of the country, having such a profound influence on our future" - I did not mean to exclude the Members of Congress from the list.
