About Me

In writing the "About Me" portion of this blog I thought about the purpose of the blog - namely, preventing the growth of Socialism & stopping the Death Of Democracy in the American Republic & returning her to the "liberty to abundance" stage of our history. One word descriptions of people's philosophies or purposes are quite often inadequate. I feel that I am "liberal" meaning that I am broad minded, independent, generous, hospitable, & magnanimous. Under these terms "liberal" is a perfectly good word that has been corrupted over the years to mean the person is a left-winger or as Mark Levin more accurately wrote in his book "Liberty & Tyranny" a "statist" - someone looking for government or state control of society. I am certainly not that & have dedicated the blog to fighting this. I believe that I find what I am when I consider whether or not I am a "conservative" & specifically when I ask what is it that I am trying to conserve? It is the libertarian principles that America was founded upon & originally followed. That is the Return To Excellence that this blog is named for & is all about.

Responses - America's Needed Mindset Change Starts With The FairTax

Below are two responses re the subject message.  I have also had countless telephone conversations & personal meetings with subscribers who feel "deflated" or just mad @ the status of America as thousands of people file their income tax returns with nothing but frustration as to where their money goes.  We are way over halfway socialist & we are not getting our money's worth – you never do with this type of system.

I also received messages like "You and Carol are very dedicated to the FairTax – I saw it in your actions yesterday @ the Somerville Post Office event I was so glad to help you with.  As I mentioned to Carol yesterday it takes BIG money to make an indent."  Big money or plenty of work.

We have to realize that it has been the nature of every democracy in history to wait until crisis strikes before doing something about what could have been avoided with just the smallest bit of foresight, courage, & honesty by both the elected reps & the citizenry themselves.   Only a few of us see we are about to fall down a metaphorical flight of stairs while the majority choose to ignore the peril that lies @ the bottom.

The two responses below beg for everyone to work just half as hard as I know both of these writers do for America.  I have very fresh evidence that America lies between apathy & dependence just one short step away from dictatorship.  The problem is in thinking the answer lies in the establishment Republican Party or electing ABBO.  Either of these choices only gets our country in deeper & the end result of that lies in the conclusion that the second responder makes.

Doug - Thanks for the incredible but very useful stats. What an increase - no income tax payers from 14.8% to 49.5% 1984 to 2009! And a 15 fold increase in 'dependence' payouts from 1962 to 2010 (adjusted for inflation I trust).

I totally agree the FairTax can significantly change the mindset of the 'takers' and our leaders (as many new ones as possible please). We must work on both. Some 'takers' understand math. To these stress the dangers of continuing our statist policies but especially stress benefits of no IRS (that is $430 billion a year) plus keeping your paycheck free of federal taxes - no payroll taxes and embedded taxes). If we can convince 20% of these 49.5% we have a much better chance of convincing our politicians to support the FairTax.

We also need to quickly decrease the 40 cents borrowed for every dollar spent and fast. Confront politicians who may be open to this and encourage them to pursue this decrease courageously.

An excellent commentary on the State of Our Union!!! Unfortunately it is accurate and sad to see that We The People of the United States, do not care or do not know what to do.

Many a generation now has not the knowledge to be vigilant with their government and so we have become sheep to the wolves in government.  It is not totally our fault but forget that we must stand up and take responsibility for Our Country against Our government. Yes you heard me, We The People of the United States are the sovereigns of this country and are the source of political power.  The People's mindset must be changed and very soon or as Reagan, in his "Time to Choose" speech, said we will fall into a "thousand years of darkness."  Think of it this way a lot of us don't know what to do but we are finding out and we need everyone's help... get involved and stop making excuses for what you can't do. There are more of us (The People) then there is in government...we must overwhelm them. If we do not act now, and I know you must have those words before you, we will be sorry we didn't when we had a chance to.  Act now and avoid a bloody revolution later...
